On Wednesday 6th May, 55 Year 5 students from Nexus came to our Primary Campus to spend a day of MFL Fun with our Year 5s.
Our Languages Day started after break time, with a fantastic assembly full of impressive performances put together by Alice Smith and Nexus students. We were treated to songs, dances and poems in Bahasa, Mandarin, French and Spanish - well done to all our performers!
The day carried on with a QR code race around the campus. This gave the children the opportunity to get to know each other a bit more as they had to collaborate in teams from both schools to work out clues in all four different languages. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the race! A particular well done to George A, Dominic Y and Elyca C from Alice Smith who were part of the overall winning team.
Lunch and football were appreciated by all during the midday break, however everyone was relieved to move back to the coolness of the Hall and the ICT rooms in the afternoon. There, the Year 5 students from both schools started a Language Perfect online battle that lasted an hour. Alice Smith ended up winning the competition with Sarthak S in fourth position overall, Victoria T in third position and Yushi K-D in second position. Noah R came first of all the Year 5s, but with only two points ahead of Yushi! It was an epic battle indeed, as well as an excellent practice for the Year 5s as the Language Perfect World Championships start next week.
At 2 o’clock it was the end of our MFL Fun Day and we said “au revoir”, “adios”, “jumpa lagi” and “zaijian” to our new Nexus friends. A very successful Languages Day!
