18 teams travelled to the Alice Smith School for the annual South East Asian Netball Games
This was the first time the school had been asked to host the event, and what an event it was! The teams that took part in the competition came from neighbouring countries such as Brunei and Singapore. Interest in netball this year at Alice Smith has increased dramatically and KLASS fielded a total of 5 teams. I have been overwhelmed with the increase in numbers of participants for netball and am really proud that we were able to have such a large squad.
The two day tournament was a huge success. All the girls had a fantastic weekend and thoroughly enjoyed representing the school at a competitive level. The standard of netball over the weekend improved dramatically and the girls should be very proud of their efforts.
Alice Smith ‘A’ team managed to secure 1st place in the Plate competition with Alice Smith ‘B’ close behind finishing 2nd. The remaining developmental teams all finished mid-table which was a huge achievement as many of our girls are in Year 7 and 8, and some had only learnt the rules six weeks ago!
Well done to all!
A very proud Mrs Malone
