Back on Monday 9th February
the students of 12/13 LBA hosted a Non-Teaching-Staff ‘appreciation afternoon’,
primarily aimed at recognising the aforementioned staff for their effort and
contribution to the school.
The event itself took weeks
of organising: it started when the idea was suggested during a student
initiative session at Enrichment, but after the project began, nothing could
stop them from continuing through with the idea despite some initial criticism.
Through the show of support from the school's administrative staff, the idea
was eventually approved, and preparations began.
In the month leading up to
the evening, responsibilities were delegated in the rush to get things done for
the afternoon. There was no shortage of work to be done, from the preparation
of snacks to organising a time and
place, the achievements of the students to get these tasks done in time for the
event should not be ignored.
The atmosphere at the
evening was lively and at the same time relaxed, which was largely due to the
fact that the students prepared everything necessary for the evening, from the
provision of food to the setting up of the tables.
Nevertheless, it was an
enlightening experience for all involved, giving them not only an opportunity
to take on leadership roles in organising events such as these, but to give
back to the community as well. Here's hoping for more similar events in the
