The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability. It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time."



 

Sixth Form students at The Alice Smith School, Kuala Lumpur, are strongly encouraged to participate in this challenge award scheme. This scheme comprises of non-competitive challenges in their extra-curricular life both in and out of school.

The aims of the scheme are to encourage the following.

- Personal discovery and growth;
- Self-reliance;
- Perseverance;
- Responsibility, and
- Service to the community.


All participating students have to fulfill components of the scheme in four areas, which are:

- Physical recreation;
- Service;
- Skills;
- Expeditions.

This website is meant to provide general information about The Duke of Edinburgh's Award to prospective Alice Smith School students wishing to "take the challenge".
