| Meet
the Academic Team at the Alice Smith Secondary School at Equine
Park
As teachers
we are all focused on learning, teaching and standards. The school
sets challenging targets in knowing each student and their educational
needs and to ensure they reach their full potential. We use a
variety of external and internal formative and summative assessments
to know the potential of an individual student. We then carefully
monitor the student to ensure they are making progress and able
to reach or indeed surpass their measured potential. Progress
is monitored closely and regular reporting helps us to quickly
know if help is needed to support students in reaching their academic
targets.
We want our students to have a broad and balanced curriculum entitlement
where they are keen and eager to come to school. Teachers have
good subject knowledge and understanding in the way they present
and discuss their subject.
The Faculty teams meet regularly to plan effectively. They set
clear learning objectives that pupils understand whilst challenging
and inspiring students, expect the most of them, so as to deepen
their knowledge and understanding. Faculty teams are constantly
seeking to use teaching and learning methods that enable all students
to learn effectively and insist on high standards of behaviour.
The Heads of Faculty lead teams of subject specialist teachers,
supported by the Learning Support team where necessary. Additional
support is also offered through the EAL/ESL co-ordinator, Librarian,
Key Stage co-ordinator, Exam officer and University and careers
officer. |
