Why do we teach Business/Economics?
Business is a vital part of the modern world which affects everyone. Whatever you do in your working life, the chances are that it will involve some ‘Business’. Scientists, engineers, even artists, will inevitably have to understand at least the basics of business, probably a lot more. The role of business is to make the world a better place for everyone - creating wealth, prosperity, jobs and choices. If you believe that, Business Studies is the right choice. As business courses are fast becoming the most popular areas of study at university level, Business Studies provides an excellent platform for academic progression
Economics is a broader social science concerning choice. More specifically, it is concerned with how individuals, businesses and governments make decisions about how the scarce resources of the planet are shared amongst its population. Economists attempt to answer questions as varied as: How can we eliminate poverty? On what basis do we decide how to spend taxpayers’ money? Why is a footballer paid more than a doctor?
A-Level Economics is a challenging, but extremely rewarding subject covering everything from international finance, to the management of the environment.
