A visit to the school is an obvious starting point
to the entry procedure, but we have listed those things which you
may require to see, receive, or have explained to you when you visit.
Admission procedures may be described in three stages as set out
below, though stage 1 and 2 may be concurrent.
The Admissions contact personnel at the Alice Smith School are Vanitha Iswaran at the Primary campus at Jalan Bellamy and Elizabeth Achariam at the Secondary campus at Equine Park. Both Vanitha and Elizabeth will be your respective points of contact at the different campuses and they will guide you through the Admission procedure.

STAGE 1 - INITIAL
VISIT
You will be shown around the school and this tour should include:
- a general tour of the whole site
- a particular look at the area of the school relevant to your
child/children
- specialist facilities which will include design technology, music, drama, science, art, physical education, library and information technology - subject to teaching in progress at the time of your visit.
- the formal admission procedures
- all payments due, stating refund and notice requirements
- ministry requirements for Malaysian citizens
- whether or not there is a waiting list at your child's level (we generally place children in the correct chronological year group according to the English system).
We will expect to answer your queries on these
or other matters and clear guidance is given in the documentation.
You will be introduced to the site Principal, or in their absence
another member of Senior Management, though this may not always
be possible on your initial visit.
Where there is a waiting list it is important to note that Vanitha
or Elizabeth can indicate to you when a place may become available
but this information is advisory only and may change according to
circumstances.
It must be clearly understood that such advice does not constitute
a formal offer. Only Senior Management have the authority to make a formal
offer of a place and this will be done in writing. |

STAGE 2 - APPLICATION
Should you decide to apply formally for admission to Alice Smith
School on behalf of your child/children, we still require:
We shall provide you with a school brochure and should you wish,
answer your more detailed questions on such matters as school uniform,
transport, school routines, extra curricular activities and lunch
arrangements.
If at this stage you have a need to discuss the particulars of
your application further with the Principal or Vice Principal, we will be pleased
to make an appointment for you.
Following application as above, your child will be placed on the
waiting list and this will be confirmed to you in writing.
We will acknowledge your application as soon as we receive it, and will then contact you when a place becomes available. If you would like more information during the waiting period please contact our Admissions Officer.

STAGE 3 - ADMISSION
TO THE SCHOOL
A formal offer of a place will be made in writing
for your child/children immediately should a place be available
or alternatively when a place becomes available if there is a
waiting list at your child's year level. Our waiting list is made
up of four categories which will be explained to you should you
decide to take your application further.
Admission is subject to:
- the ability to speak, write and read English
- as appropriate to the child's age and this will be assessed
- payment of the non-refundable enrollment fee, non-refundable Building Fund contribution and the refundable unsecured interest free member's loan.
- approval from the Ministry where a child is
a Malaysian citizen who is eligible for entry into Malaysian
schools.
Please note that we assess in order to ascertain
whether a child has a learning problem, and to see his or her
level of achievement relative to our current students. The level
of attainment at Alice Smith is high and we need to be sure that
your child will cope and settle happily with us. We have support
staff who offer additional help where there are gaps to fill or,
for younger children where additional reading or maths support
is required. It is important to note that we do not have a specialist
unit to deal with more serious learning difficulties and if your
child has such needs, this could result in the withdrawal of the
offer of a place.
Your acceptance of the offer should be made prior
to your child starting school. The payment of the required enrolment
fee, building fund contribution, interest free member's loan and a recent copy of your child/children's report constitutes your acceptance of a place.
At this stage you will receive the following:
- general information handout covering arrival
and dismissal, general school routines, transport, uniform and food arrangements.
- a curriculum booklet relevant to your child's year
- school calendar
If you have any further queries or concerns that
have not been adequately addressed, please do not hesitate to draw
them to our attention.
We look forward to seeing you at the Alice Smith school, and to
welcoming your family to our community.
