One of the strengths of Alice Smith School is the parent body which contributes so much to enhance the children's experiences and learning. For those who wish to become more involved, we have:
The PTA has an elected Committee which meets regularly and is a great support to the school through events, fundraising and feedback. Members are elected at the School's Annual General Meeting in January or February each year and the Chair of the PTA serves on the Council of Governors. The PTA helps parents meet other parents and assists in many ways to enhance the life of the school community. Each class also has parent representatives who help in various ways. The committee has a PTA room at JB and can be contacted about any issues/ queries you may have. Contact numbers are posted outside the school office or you may ask at reception.
Each class has 1 or 2 representatives who liaise with the teacher and PTA to organise help for school events eg. the Christmas Bazaar and rotas for swimming supervision, trips, classroom support etc.
Role of the Class Representatives:
Arranging coffee mornings or lunches so that parents can get to know each other
Contacting new parents, making them feel welcome, and helping familiarise them with school routines and procedures
Arranging rotas for parental help with swimming or in-class support
Organising end of term parties (usually at the end of term 1)
Assisting the teacher in preparing for assemblies or productions (or other special events, such as Activity Week) by helping with costumes or props, for example
Supporting the PTA at events such as Newcomers Coffee Mornings and School Fairs
Directing parents to the appropriate person to deal with queries and concerns about curriculum, pastoral issues etc.
One of the strengths of the Alice Smith School is the parent body which contributes so much to enhance the children's experiences and learning and the life of the school community. The Alice Smith School Parent Teacher Association exists to:
Encourage and facilitate contact between parents and teachers for the benefit of the students
Provide a means whereby the Council of Governors may be kept advised of the views of the parents and teachers
Encourage and maintain the interest of parents and teachers in the School
Raise funds to provide for particular equipment or services for the School
Offer community assistance to all parents new and old
The PTA has an elected Committee which meets regularly and is a great support to the school through events, fundraising and feedback. Members are elected for a two-year term at the school's Annual General Meeting in January of February each year and the Chairperson of the PTA also serves on the Council of Governors. The PTA helps parents meet other parents and assists in many ways to enhance the life of the school community. Each class also has parent representatives who are in touch with the PTA.
The PTA Committee is made up of 13 parent members of the Alice Smith Schools Association, members of staff from Key Stages 1 to 4 (Years 1 to 11) and representatives from the senior management team at Jalan Bellamy and Equine Park. Members of the committee can be contacted about any issues/ queries you may have. You may ask at the office on either campus for contact details.
