Rugby is played by a large number of
Alice Smith School students both at school and for two local clubs and is a sport in which we have a strong and successful reputation.
Boys that play rugby at school also train and play on a weekly basis for either Royal
Selangor Rugby Club and Bintang Rugby Club. Notable names in the world of
rugby, such as Rory and Tony Underwood and Scottish international and British Lion, Ryan Grant, previously attended the Alice Smith School.
Played competitively at Under 19, Under
15 and Under 13 and a mixture of 7's, 10's and 15's format, we often field two
teams per age group. We play local schools and international schools in
friendlies as well as playing in the ISAC league and local tournaments. Our Under 19 boys team also plays in
the SEASAC Rugby Sevens tournament, which we won in 2012 and finished as runners-up
in 2013. We will be hosting the
tournament in 2014.
Girls at the Secondary Campus play
competitive touch rugby and children in Years 3 to 6 play Touch Rugby in PE and
as an inter-house sport.
