Netball

Netball is a very popular sport at the Alice Smith School, played to a high competitive standard.

There are plenty of opportunities for girls to play competitively with each age category at the Secondary Campus currently fielding ‘A’ ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams. These teams are selected during pre-season training in Term 3 with a final try-out just before the start of the season in September. Secondary teams are well established, successfully competing locally and internationally in Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 age categories.  The highlight of the season is the annual South-East Asian Netball Tournament in Singapore. In 2013, the Under 16 team were runners-up in Singapore, their best ever performance to date and the the Under 14 girls team successfully finished the season as champions in Kuala Lumpur league.

At the Primary Campus netball is developing and we currently have a large Under 11 squad who recently competed in an annual tournament in Penang. Due to the increasing popularity of the sport at Primary level we are hoping to participate in an international competition in Beijing during the academic year 2013/2014. There is a very popular netball club called ‘Sporty Girls’ held on Saturday mornings at the Primary Campus. The coaches are Alice Smith parents and the club is open to girls aged 11 and under.
