Learning Support Secondary Campus

The Learning Support Unit (LS) department at the Secondary Campus consists of six highly qualified Special Educational Needs and English as an Additional Language teachers. The faculty also includes five Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) with specialisms in English, Maths and the Sciences.

The learning support team works closely with students, teachers and parents to create individual education support plans. Teachers collaborate, plan strategies and lead 1:1 lessons or group withdrawal where appropriate.  All students identified as needing additional learning support are assigned a ‘link person’, attend intervention (or 'booster') sessions when required and have their progress tracked through regular monitoring and coaching sessions.

EAL (English as an Additional Language)
We offer an enhanced language programme designed specifically for multilingual learners. This personalised programme provides focused support from our team of four experienced EAL teachers and includes dedicated EAL lessons, one-to-one or small group withdrawal sessions, personalised in-class support, and regular monitoring and assessment by the EAL specialists. This support is provided during the school day and incurs an additional cost for parents.

Applications are considered on a case by case basis. Parents are requested to provide the school with detailed information and records to assist in the process. Parents are also strongly advised to discuss possible applications prior to making a formal application to ensure that the school is in a position to meet the needs of their child.
